How do we work with designers?

There are a huge number of elements that go into designing an office chair, not least the amount of time that needs to be invested into its development. The part we play is an essential part of this overall jigsaw. We must understand the needs of the designer, the user, as well as be mindful of design limitations. We use our seating expertise in conjunction with the designer’s vision to create custom seating solutions for their clients.

Being able to produce a seating component that meets with our discerning designer’s requirements is something we do best and enjoy the most. Turning our plastic and foam into something beautiful.

Four years ago, Orangebox began the process of designing a new, future focussed task chair. They wanted to place a greater emphasis on user experience and comfort while upholding their commitment to lead by example in environmentally responsible product design and manufacture.

Eva evolved over time and Orangebox never lost their focus on ensuring that the technology and materials used remained ahead of their competitors. However, during the development of Eva, users of the task chair became even more demanding and Orangebox knew they needed to keep ahead of the game as future task chairs now would need a controllable lumbar support.

This is where we came in. Orangebox approached us to see if we could manufacturer a bespoke solution to the future needs of Eva. Eva has a very clever mesh back that stretches and holds to each individual occupant, we needed to design a lumbar support cushion that not only enhanced the users experience but also needed to maintain the aesthetics of this beautiful task chair.

We rose to the challenge and after designing, manufacturing and intensive testing, produced exactly what Eva required. Eva has now been lovingly launched into society and is already providing many with an extremely comfortable, ergonomic, dynamic chair that intelligently responds to the user’s weight providing a maximum range of adjustment with just a few controls.

Conclusion

We were delighted to work with Orangebox on Eva and proud of the finished lumbar product. Our part may have been the production of a bit of plastic but it was transformed into a stylish, intelligent task chair.
